Between bananas and volcanoes, the essence of the Canary Island banana in Tenerife South

In the heart of Las Galletas (Arona, Tenerife South), surrounded by the volcanic landscape and the sea, you will find Finca Las Margaritas, a banana farm with more than four decades of history.
Its origin dates back to 1977, when Adolfo Guerra Gonzalez and Margarita Hernandez Perez, The two men, son-in-law and mother-in-law with palm tree roots, decided to start a family farming project dedicated to the cultivation of the canary banana, The Canary Islands' symbol par excellence.

The challenges of the territory

Cultivation in this area in the south of Tenerife was not easy.

The estate was born on volcanic soils, with poor soils in organic matter, scarce water and an intense climate, marked by wind and sunshine.

Finca Las Margaritas succeeded in transforming this environment.

Thanks to the effort and innovation of the family, it has become one of the main banana farms under glass in Tenerife South.

Today, the crop covers about 8 hectares

With 98% dedicated to Canary Island bananas (Gran Enana and Gruesa Palmera varieties) and a small percentage to tropical fruit trees such as mango, papaya and avocado.

The value of authenticity: tradition and sustainability

Finca Las Margaritas keeps alive the canarian agricultural tradition, combining methods of integrated and sustainable production with respect for the land and those who work it.
The soul of the estate is preserved in every detail, from the ancient irrigation systems to the El Cuartito, The old tack room has been restored as a space for relaxation, tasting and cultural dissemination.
